Is your list of "to-do's" a mile long? Mine too! And when I sit down to write out my list of what I need to do, the list gets even longer! Then, all discouraged, I sit on the couch while eating a bag of chips and get mad at myself that I'm not doing more, or even just doing something!
Mel Robbins, an American on-air CNN commentator, television host, life coach, author, and motivational speaker says your motivation dies after 5 seconds of postponing! 5-seconds is all it takes to over-ride your brain's natural tendency to postpone, delay or drag out what you know you need to do. So the second you think, "I need to empty that garbage" or "I should sweep the floors" or "that load of laundry is ready to fold" or even "I need to send that email", you have 5 seconds to take action. So just DO IT! Get in there and start crossing things off. Sure, you could always wait until tomorrow.... but then tomorrow comes and you don't want to do. Just take action and DO IT!
It's like how Nike always says "Just Do It". It's true. Just go and clean out that junk drawer, fold that load of laundry really quick, or clean out the hall closet. Tasks almost always go faster than you think and it always feels so rewarding after it's done. So count to 5, get off the couch, put away the chips and tackle that to-do list!
