Making the Most of Staying at Home

At a time where we find social distancing as our new norm, we are given the opportunity to slow down and take time to focus on what is most important in our lives. That of course is what goes on within the walls of our own home. So now that we are all required to "stay at home", we thought we would share some ideas of how to make the most of the time we have been given.

*Even though we may be working from home and having school at home, it doesn't mean that our routines need to be all that different. First things first - getting a good night's rest with Beddy's Zipper Bedding! With it's soft minky interior and easy zip-up bedding, your kids will fall asleep, wake up, and make their bed faster than ever before with Beddy's

*Teach your kids life skills, like how to do laundry or how to start the dishwasher! Now is the time to have your kids help with all the dreaded chores around the house! So go through your closets, clean baseboards and walls, organize a drawer, or spice cabinet and do all the things that we put off because we don't "have the time."

*Everyone needs a little sunshine and getting outside and making chalk art on your sidewalk and driveway is something that will pass the time.  It can also be enjoyed by neighbors and friends as they are out on walks and obeying their social distancing guidelines. I have even seen neighbors leaving sweet messages to those who are passing by.

*Take time to write letters, or make cards for friends and family, because who doesn't love a little surprise in the mail?

*Workout as a family. I know everyone has seen the "Peloton bike for Christmas" ad that ended up being a little controversial... but Peloton and others actually have online classes to do at home that are free right now. There are all kinds of ways to take advantage of online fitness instruction. So whether you are looking for yoga, meditation, weights, or abs, Peloton and other's have a little of everything!

*If you have girls do a makeover or spa day. We all need a little pampering since we can't go to the salon!

*Go on an online shopping spree. Have a little fun and add all your favorite things to your cart. If you can, be sure to support other local small businesses because every order means so much to each and every one of us!

*Spend time outside. Even if it is just a walk around the block. Fresh air and sunshine are so good for the soul. But be sure to wash your hands when you get home!

*Paint pictures or practice drawing. Get some cheap canvas boards and let your kids creativity shine!

*Have your kids be in charge of dinner each night. They can help you meal plan, prepare and cook! And your kids are more likely to eat something that they helped prepare. 😜

*Be sure to keep a journal. This is such a crazy time we are all living in, and you're likely to have lots of thoughts and feelings on what is going on in the world. Your future loved ones will be grateful for the record of it later!

*I know many of us are wanting to redecorate bedrooms while spending so much extra time at home. Now is the time to tackle all of those projects we have been putting off because.... we have all the time in the world right now! Check out our New Year, New Bedroom post for some room inspirations from some of our favorite influencers.

*Play board games or put together a puzzle. Some of our favorites are Code Names, Ticket to Ride, The Meme Game,  Mexican Train Dominoes, Tenzy, or Monopoly Deal.

*Join the TikTok trend! There are so many dances or fun ideas that will make you laugh and you'll be sure to have fun while doing them. Beddy's is even on TikTok! And before we all were allowed to work at home, we even had fun making TikTok's in the offices as a team. Be sure to find us on TikTok @beddys to follow our adventures!

*Movie Nights are becoming a daily occurrence around here. Luckily there is no shortage of options on Disney+ or Netflix! Introduce your kids to some movies from your childhood, or watch a new release like Onward or Stargirl.  And if you are a Trolls fan, Trolls 2 is coming to video-on-demand on April 6th. We are all super excited about that at our house!

*It isn't a movie night without popcorn. This caramel popcorn recipe is a hit at the Beddy's office. We promise it will be a favorite in your home too!

CARAMEL POPCORN

2 Sticks of butter

2 C. Brown sugar

1/2 Cup light corn syrup

1 t. Salt

1 t. Vanilla

1/2 t. Baking soda

2 Bags of microwave popcorn (I use the lightest butter option I can find).

Microwave popcorn and sift out any kernels that did not pop. Put popcorn in a large bowl. Melt butter over medium heat, then add brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring everything to a boil, take off heat and then add baking soda and vanilla. Stir.  Pour over popcorn. Stir. Enjoy!

*It isn't a movie night without Beddy's Blankets!  Our blankets are game changers. Seriously.... they will change your life! They are a super soft cotton on one side, with our plush minky on the other side. There are so many options available on the website. You'll probably want to get a few, because everyone is sure to want their own!

Whether we want to be or not, we are all in this together... so let's make the most of the time we have been given to spend more time with the people that matter most, and make some memories that will last forever! ❤️
