Beddy's Family Holiday Traditions

The temperatures are dropping.  We are all online shopping. Christmas lights are popping. There is a feeling in the air that means only one thing - 'tis the season!  A season filled with magic and joy, good food, better company, and a feeling that only comes once a year. The Holiday Season is a time for traditions new and old, and while this year is a year of firsts for us all, we here at Beddy’s wanted to share some of the holiday traditions we value, in hopes that we might share a tradition you might come to value as well.

CHRISTMAS CRAFTS & NEIGHBOR GIFTS

Have you seen that Beddy’s has downloadable artwork? We offer custom digital artwork that is designed to go perfectly with our bedding and accessories. But we've found fun new uses for it as well. We have holiday themed artwork that you can download, frame, and give as neighbor gifts. Simply grab a few inexpensive 5"x 7" frames (we love this $4 frame from Ikea), print your favorite Beddy's holiday artwork, and off you go! These also make darling framed decorations for your Christmas tree. We have three different options that are perfect for the season of giving - Ho Ho Ho, Dear Santa, and Winter Woods.

And, beginning December 10th through the 24th, every Beddy's order will include a free Dear Santa digital artwork download! Plus, you'll get 20% off your entire order - what a way to get your Christmas shopping done practically all at once!

TINY TREES

A favorite tradition Lindsay has is to get little Christmas trees from the Dollar Spot in Target. She then lets her kids decorate and put them in their bedrooms. We are sure your kids will love bringing the holidays into their own space too!

CHRISTMAS JAMMIES

Every year Betsy goes to Gentry’s parents house the week before Christmas for dinner, games and opening pajamas. The boys and girls always get matching pajamas - and off course they had to be Beddy’s pajamas! If you haven’t tried our pajamas, you are missing out! We have a few styles to choose from, This Cactus Ain’t Prickly, Bolt and our Late Night Pajoggers.

CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN

In Stephanie R.'s family, they do a candy countdown to lead up to Christmas. It is a super easy, fun activity to do with the kids! Use cellophane, candy and curly ribbon. Then each night cut one candy off and read a Christmas book or a scripture. These also make great gifts for cousins or neighbors!

CHRISTMAS EATS

Also in Lindsay's family, they make this breakfast casserole every Christmas. It is a family tradition that's been passed down from Grandma. They always make the casserole on Christmas Eve, and put it in the oven to cook on Christmas morning while the kids are opening presents!
Breakfast Casserole
Ingredients:
12 slices of bread
8 oz of grated cheese
1/2 pound of your favorite meat (sausage or ham)
Veggies (mushrooms, onions, peppers)
8-10 Eggs
Salt and Pepper
Butter
Directions: Butter all slices of bread. Place 6 slices of bread, buttered side down in a 9x13 pan. Then top with grated cheese, meat and veggies. Then place the other 6 slices of bread, buttered side up on the top. Beat 8-10 eggs in a bowl, with salt and pepper. Pour the eggs over the whole casserole...make sure to get all the bread covered with eggs. Cover the pan in foil and refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours (30 of which is without the foil).

Tip: We make two different kids...one with cheddar cheese, ham and sometimes we add onions. And then on the other one we use pepper jack cheese, breakfast sausage and peppers. Feel free to experiment and make it your own!

RUDOLPH KISSES

Ang said “every Christmas Eve, Rudolph always gave our boys a kiss while they were sleeping. You can see his nose kiss mark on each one of their cheeks. Sometimes his kiss even smeared if they turned their head in their sleep (as witnessed above) 😂. The boys always loved getting up in the morning and running to the mirror to see if Rudolph had kissed them in their sleep! Now these boys are all grown up with their own kids for Rudolph to kiss!

CANDYCANE HUNT

At Ang's house, every night mom or dad would hide a candy cane on the tree and the kids would have to find it. Whoever finds the candy cane that night, gets to keep it! Her boys loved this nightly activity too!

CHRISTMAS KISSES

Also at Ang's, a little “mistletoe” in the house always adds a little Christmas sweetness to the season.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

If you live in Utah, visiting Temple Square is a must during the holidays, and it's a favorite activity for Kristin's family. And if you don't live in Utah, there's always a local place to go see Christmas lights. So bundle up the family and spend a night together viewing magical Christmas lights in your neighborhood. And it's always best to top off the night with some hot cocoa!

CHRISTMAS SERVICE

Jenni said every Christmas season her family does a service project. They have made blankets, hygiene kits, Sub-4-Santa, or 12 Days of Christmas. It is such a great way to teach our kiddos what the holiday season is really all about.

GINGERBREAD WARS

Did you know two of our employees are sisters? Yup! Candace and Kristin are and their family does a gingerbread house competition every year. Each immediate family works together to complete their house, and grandma and grandpa are the judges. They use everything from rock candy, cinnamon stick logs, to juicy fruit siding! Last year someone even made a Traeger smoker in the yard (genius!). With Covid restrictions this year, maybe your extended family can't get together, but you can do a gingerbread house competition within your own little family or try hosting a competition via Zoom, Google Hangouts or FaceTime!

CHRISTMAS SNUGGLES

When the weather outside is frightful, we of course love to snuggle up with a Beddy's Blanket! Beddy's blankets are things sugar plum dreams are made of! They are the perfect weight to keep you cozy and with a 100% cotton sateen exterior, fluffy cloud-like stuffing, and a plush minky interior, you will want to wrap up tight, so "all the way home you'll be warm." Grab a Beddy's blanket and turn on one of your favorite Christmas movies (Freeform does 25 days of Christmas movies, or check out Christmas Chronicles 2 on Netflix) and enjoy a few hours relaxing with your loved ones!

CHRISTMAS BOOKS

Ever since Lindsay's kids were little, mom and dad have wrapped up 25 different holiday books. Starting December 1st, have your kids pick one to unwrap each night until Christmas. Curl up next to them in their Beddy's and read the stories that bring holiday joy to your little gems. This is a great way to start the season off right and to help your little ones enjoy the magical season all month long. Be sure to end the night right by zipping them up in their soft, cozy Beddy's.
