Tips for Making Bunk Bed Sheets with Traditional Bedding

First things first – how often should you change bunk linen? We recommend changing out the bedding once a week. This helps keep everything nice and fresh!

However, we can see how the prospect of changing out bunk bed bedding can feel really tedious. If you’re using traditional bedding for your bunk or loft, here are some tips you could consider to try and simplify!

Use a Step Stool or Ladder

Depending on how high your bunk or loft bed is, you might consider bringing in the ladder or a smaller step stool to help out.

One of the things that makes making a bunk bed so challenging is how high up they are. It can get pretty tough trying to get the corners on straight and everything tucked in the way it should be. Using a ladder or step stool will give you some added height to carry out the process a little easier.

Fold the Mattress

Another option you could consider is folding the mattress. Fold it toward you and tuck the bedding underneath. This makes it easier for you to get the bedding settled and tucked in on the far side so you don’t have to stretch and reach too far!

Only Tuck One Side

You could also only tuck in the side that is closest to you. Tuck in the sheets, lay the comforter on top and tidy it up, and don’t worry about the side that is against the wall. It’s hard to reach, and the only other option would be to get on top of the bed and tuck it in that way, but even with that, you are rumpling up the bedding by being on top of it.

Lose the Flat Sheet

It’s already hard enough getting that fitted sheet in place and the comforter lined up and looking tidy; you could consider ditching that pesky flat sheet in between to speed up your bed making process. Who even uses the flat sheet anyway? (Unless they’re zipper sheets, of course!)

Get Some Help

Who says you have to go at it alone? Get someone to help you! Having an extra set of hands could make it possible to potentially pull the bed out from against the wall and you could tag team getting the sheets and comforter in place.

Another option is to have the other person positioned underneath the bunk bed and pushing the mattress up between the slats, giving you some space to tuck in the sheets while it’s being held up in the air.

Try Sheet Straps

Are you dealing with a fitted sheet that is constantly popping off the edge of the mattress? Sheet straps could be a great solution for you!

Sheet straps are adjustable bands or straps that clip onto the edge of your fitted sheet on the bottom of your mattress. It’s a way to add an extra layer of security to your bunk bed bedding to help ensure it’s not going to shift in the night or completely come off the mattress.

Rotate the Bed

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try rotating the bed to get that bedding in place. Start on the side that is currently most easily accessed on your bunk bed or loft and get the bedding put in place. Then rotate the bad 180 degrees and finish making the bed.

Specialty Sheets

Another option to consider is investing in speciality sheets. Zipper bedding for bunk beds is a huge time saver, it keeps everything looking neat and orderly, and it’s super cozy and comfy. It’s a total win and is truly the best bedding for bunk beds!
