New Year, New You! 5 Tips You Need to Achieve Your Goals

We don't know about you guys, but we are so excited about our goals we have made for this year! Goals are great motivators, but they are much harder to achieve without a plan. We have put together 5 tips that you will definitely need if you want to achieve all of your goals for 2019.
1. Prioritize.
Sometimes setting goals can be pretty overwhelming because you have so many and you want to get them all done right away. One of the best tips is to prioritize your goals. What goals are the most important? How long will it take to achieve those goals? How do you need to prioritize your day to achieve each goal? Can some of your goals wait till a later date in the year? You should consider all of these when making your plan. There is an app called One List that you can get at the App Store for free. It literally is the best thing ever. It organizes you To Do Lists in such a way that it makes it really easy to prioritize not only your days, but also your weeks.
2. Be realistic.
Setting goals is the best way to achieve all that you want to accomplish, which is why New Years Resolutions are so popular. The issue is that sometimes we set too many at once and it becomes overwhelming, often causing us to give up right after we start. It is so good to set goals, but make sure to be realistic about the time period. It might help to work on one goal at a time so that you can give each one 100% of your focus.
3. Make a plan.
It's always good to have a plan. When you make a plan and write it all down, you are much more likely to follow-through and hold yourself accountable to achieving your goal. Each goal should have a specific plan tailored just right so that you will achieve it. It should include a time frame and even a goal date of when you would like to achieve that goal. You should also consider what resources you will need and if there is something you need to do every day or once a week. Now every goal is different and therefore every plan is different. It just helps to have something in place that you can always look to so that you can be accountable. There is a super cool app call Strides: Habit Tracker that we would definitely recommend. It has everything you need to achieve your goals in one place.
4. Set reminders.
Reminders are great tools for some many things and they are perfect when you are setting goals. For example, one goal you might have is to exercise daily. Set a reminder on your phone not only to remind you to exercise every morning, but to wake up at a certain time so that you don't miss that window of when you can exercise. You might have a goal to eat healthier. Maybe set a few reminders in your phone each week with inspirational messages that remind you why you wanted to eat healthy in the first place. You don't just have to use your phone either. You can put reminders on your fridge or on your bathroom mirror. Someplace where you will always see it. This is a great way to keep you motivated to achieving your goals. Google Calendar is actually a great resource for setting those much needed reminders.
5. Make it a point every week to evaluate how you are doing.
This is another important tool that will keep you accountable. It can be so easy to get into a routine and forget about some of your goals. Life is busy and honestly super complicated. Sometimes we get hit with curve balls and have to put all our focus and energy into putting out those fires that we forget about our goals. That is why it is important to make a point every week, and hey maybe even every day to evaluate how you are doing. It's just another reminder that you do have goals you want to achieve and even if you forget for a few days, a few weeks, even a few months that you can always start again. It is also a good way to evaluate what is working for you and what is not. This is a tip you definitely don't want to forget.
